Drug & Alcohol Policy

This policy applies to all Samson Express Offshore employees, contractors and visitors to Samson Express Offshore owned and operated plant and sites.

The objective of this policy is to assist in the preventive approach in relation to drug and alcohol use.

All employees may be subjected to random drug or alcohol tests at any port. Such tests will be carried out by independent personnel and analysed at a recognised laboratory. Testing may be required by request of the Master, Charterer or Port Authority, and may also be carried out following any type of incident. For the purposes of emergency preparedness it is a requirement that the delegated shore based emergency representative has a blood alcohol content of zero.

The use and possession of drugs other than those strictly prescribed by a medical practitioner is prohibited and will lead to dismissal from employment as well as reporting to the relevant authorities.

Samson Express Offshore recognises that abuse or misuse of drugs or alcohol by company personnel or contractors may impair their ability to perform properly and may have serious adverse effects on safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Any person under the influence of prohibited drugs or alcohol serving onboard any of the Company vessels, will lend themselves liable to dismissal. This also includes personnel removed for inappropriate behaviour whilst in transit for work.

Samson Express Offshore personnel including contractors shall comply with any requirements contained in this policy or Client Alcohol and Drug policies and regulations that may apply from time to time.

Smoking

Samson Express Offshore recognizes the rights of individuals to smoke if they so desire, but shall actively promote the extensive research and flow-on effects of passive smoking.

Samson Express Offshore supports the principle of a smoke free environment for personnel, contractors and visitors to our facilities in recognising the need to provide a safe and healthy workplace.

Smoking is banned in all internal areas of our workplace and any area, which has been deemed to be hazardous or is a designated no-smoking area. This includes company vehicles.

This policy has been adopted in the interest of protecting the health and well being of all personnel.
